- TODAY'S BIBLE TEXT
Text: Revelation 12:9-11; 2 Timothy 2:24-26
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

WHAT IS A SNARE
Text: Revelation 12:9-11; 2 Timothy 2:24-26
Memory verse: 1 Timothy 3: 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Snares are traps designed to capture a specific type of bird or animal, usually by the neck or leg. In 2 Corinthians 2:11 the apostle Paul warns Christians to be on guard “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” As a young boy, I grew up in a village where sometimes we go hunting for animals. We set traps or lay snares on the tracks of animals for reckless animals. These snares consisted mostly of thin cable wire that is subtly and skilfully placed along the paths animals used daily. Once the animal walked into the snare, the wire would wind tightly around its throat, either choking it to death or preventing it from escaping so it could later be killed. Some persons would go to look for these snares, but they were very difficult to locate because they were cleverly and skilfully laid and hidden. Almost every day they send people to look for these snares.
So, a snare is a device. An instrument for operation. In like manner Satan sets snares for unsuspecting people, especially for those who seek to be Christians. Apostle Paul called such tactics, strategies, or devices “the snare of the devil” like the snares or traps the hunters cleverly set.
The enemies are not waiting for you to offend them before setting the traps for you. They set it out of wickedness and jealousy. Psalms 35: 7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul. Psalms 9: 15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. While they are digging pits for others, there is a pit digging and a grave making for themselves.
Any man or woman setting traps for you and your families will be swallowed in their own pits in Jesus’ name. Amen. God will overthrow the wicked in all their schemes against you in Jesus’ name. Aman.
