Text: Psalms 124:1-8

1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;  2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:  3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:  4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:  5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. 6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.   7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers:  the snare is broken, and we are escaped.   8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

THE LORD IS ON YOUR SIDE

Text: Psalms 124:1-8

Memory verse: Psalm 125: 1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

When we think we are down and out, God says, The Snare is Broken. We belong to a generation that cannot be trapped. So many of us have been dealing with some snares; life’s pitfalls, we stumbled and fell, trying and crying for restoration. We are dealing with some situations, feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, feelings of lack and feelings of loneliness, financial issues, physical issues, and yes even spiritual issues in our lives. These issues are messing with our minds messing with our character and messing with our relationship with God.

David was a man of God that God had ordained to do great things. God and David had a covenant relationship that could not be broken. God and David had a closeness that was not just religious, not just a relationship, but David had fellowship with God in His prayers and desires. David knew that He could go to God with anything he needed and with anything he had to talk about, David had confidence in God. Because not only had God promised David great things in his life and in his kingdom but David knew that through all his imperfections, through all his wrong doings, through every failure, and through every challenge, through every snare. David believed that God would honour His promise to him. Because of that faith, confidence and belief in God, David went on to do great things for the Lord.

If it had not been the Lord who is on your side, when you lost your Job, when you were  dealing with that addiction, when you were alone, when your Children were sick, when you did not know where you were going to lay your head, when there was no food to eat when your enemies came all out against you, when they tried to swallow you, it was the Lord that saved you.

When their wrath was against you, when you needed help and no help was coming from anywhere, it was the Lord that helped you. That was why David said: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” The Lord is my light and my salvation; my strong tower, my heart fixer, my rock, and my refuge, in time of trouble God will set me upon a rock, God will lift me up, God will be my light at the end of the tunnel, guiding my path.

 Prayers 

1.  Lord Jesus, help us to always be on Your side, as You are on our side all through this year 2024.

2.  LORD God Almighty, help me with the consciousness and awareness that you are always with me no matter what I will face this year in life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
