THE EYES OF THE SERPENT

  • TODAY'S BIBLE TEXT

    Text: Genesis 3:1-7

     Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.   And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.   And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her;  and he did eat.   And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked;  and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

    THE EYES OF THE SERPENT

    Text: Genesis 3:1-7

    Memory verse: Matthew 10: Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

    A blind serpent is a powerless serpent, it is an easy target and a dying one. The power of a serpent is from the eyes, the secret of a serpent is in the eyes not in the venoms. The venoms of a serpent receive instructions from the eyes whereby the poisonous saliva is produced.

    The serpent has a cautiousness and sensitivity in his eye. He has a unique sharpness of sight. One of the proverbial speeches, among the Grecians, is that a serpent's eye is one of a quick understanding. In this, we should be like the serpent. Get the serpent's eye; have a quick insight into the mysteries of the Christian religion.

    Knowledge and insight are the beauty and ornament of a Christian life. Proverbs 14:18, "The prudent or cautious are crowned with knowledge." Get the serpent's eye but be divinely lightened. Faith without knowledge is presumption; zeal without knowledge is blind passion. Proverbs 19:2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth. Without knowledge, the heart is not good. You can claim you have a good heart and have no knowledge. It is like your claim of good eyes when there is no sight. In this, be like the serpent, be of a quick understanding.

    Women are often and easily possessed with the spirit of a serpent. How much do you know that woman, the one you are about to commit your life to? Do you really know your wife? How about the lady you slept with and the next you want to sleep with. Do you really look into their eyes. I mean, do you have the awareness to discern the serpentine spirit in a woman? How well and how often do you look into their eyes balls whenever you talk with them. As a man, are you a discerning type or just the usual type of a man carried away by lust?

    When a woman especially the one possessed with a serpentine spirit sees a man, she starts processing every information she could get first with her eyes. A woman that will destroy your bright destiny would immediately mark you as a prey on the first date. While the serpent bites and strikes with venoms, the man has the power to bruise and crush her head. The reason a lot of men become a victim to a woman with serpentine spirits is because they are carried away by the beauty, curves and the body of a woman. When you focus more on her face than her eyes, she makes you weak. Your destiny is greater than the whatever you think you want to get from that woman. Remember that God will judge you first before he judges the woman. The man is the main idea, the original plan while the woman is the afterthought. Therefore, be very cautious to discern the eyes of every woman that comes your way and guide your destiny jealously. Crush the head of the serpent before she bites and destroy your destiny.

  • TODAY'S HYMNAL

    CGDS Hymn 17; SS & S 23;

    TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE

    1. To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
    So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
    Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
    And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

    Refrain

    Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    Let the earth hear His voice;
    Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    Let the people rejoice;
    Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
    And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.

    2. Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
    To every believer the promise of God;
    The vilest offender who truly believes,
    That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

    3. Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
    And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
    But purer, and higher, and greater will be
    Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.
