THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE “From letters”
- TODAY'S BIBLE TEXT
Text: Daniel 5:26–31
26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. 27 TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. 28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. 29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. 30 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. 31 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE “From letters”
Text: Daniel 5:26–31
Memory verse: Daniel 5:5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
Another way that you may receive a word of knowledge is by seeing letters or a word in your mind’s eye. This phrase gives you a point of engagement. Belshazzar the king in a party to celebrate his gods. At the height of the festivities, a man’s hand was seen writing on the wall the mysterious words “mene mene tekel upharsin”. The king was terrified. But no one could understand what the words meant. All attempts at interpretation by Belshazzar’s wise men failed until Daniel was called in.
Daniel was one of the captives from Judah brought to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel was given wisdom from God to read and translate the words, which meant “numbered, numbered, weighed, divided.” Daniel told the king, “Here is what these words mean: Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians”. Peres is the singular form of upharsin. The Bible never identifies what language the words were in, they could all see the letters but did not understand the language. When God want to confuse the enemies, He uses a language that will confuse them to cause them to seek those with the gift of wisdom to interpret the knowledge.
The handwriting on the wall proved true. In fact, it proved fatal for the dissolute Belshazzar. Just as Daniel had said, the kingdom of Babylon was divided between the Medes and Persians, and it happened that very night. Belshazzar was slain, and his kingdom passed to Darius the Mede.
The appearance of mene mene tekel upharsin on the king’s wall was a word of knowledge and a reminder that whatever we sow, that we will also reap Galatians 6:7–8. God is the Judge; He justly weighs all matters and dispense out and impose His punishment in His time Psalm 94:2. Sometimes God speaks very clearly into our lives, convicting us of sin and warning us of pending judgment John 16:8. It does not pay to ignore the “handwriting on the wall.” Do not ignore massages sent to you in writing seen in dreams, vision or physical.
