14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. 15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;  17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:  18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;  that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

THE HOLY SPIRIT FILLS unto GOD’S POWER, AND PURPOSE

Text: Ephesians 3:14-19

Memory verse: 2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Along with His presence, to be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be filled with His power for specific purposes. It is impossible to separate His power from what His power is for. Power to Comprehend the Incomprehensible. Ephesians 3:14-19 says: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

In other words, when a person is filled with the Holy Spirit, they are enabled to increasingly comprehend and apprehend the overwhelming and incomparable love of Christ for them. Which God has shown us in Christ. It surpasses all the capacity of man's intellect, to comprehend it fully in his mind: for otherwise whoever has the Spirit of God receives as much according to the measure that God has given him as is necessary for salvation. So that we have abundantly in us whatever things are required to make us perfect with God.

As it is in a triumphant song, he is outwardly afflicted, but inwardly he profits daily: and he is not bothered by all the misery that may be sustained in this life, in comparison to that most constant and eternal glory. We gather new strength so that the outward man is not overcome with the miseries which come freshly one after another, being maintained and upheld with the strength of the inward man. The Holy Spirit provides the inner strength to stand firm during, before and after every battle.

Our body, the part of us that can be seen, heard, and felt, perish, by been slowly consumed by continual trials and afflictions, and be martyred at last; Our soul, that cannot be felt or seen by others, is renewed, revived, and receives a daily increase of light and life from God, so that we grow more holy, more happy, and meet more purposes for God’s glory every day.

Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?

   Prayers:

1.  Holy Spirit, please lead me with power into the purposes of God for my life. In Jesus’ name.

2.  LORD God Almighty, may I not leave this world without fulfilling Your purpose for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
