PROTECTING YOUR SPIRITUAL PROVISIONS
Text: Genesis 26:12-25
12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. 13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: 14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. 15 For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth. 16 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we. 17 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. 18 And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. 19 And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. 20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. 21 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. 22 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. 23 And he went up from thence to Beersheba. 24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake. 25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well. Monday 6th January 2025 Day 3 of the21 days of 2025 Fasting Text: Genesis 26:12-25 Memory verse: Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” As believers, we are called to recognize that God has promised to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. These provisions, however, are not only physical but deeply spiritual. God desires for us to experience abundance not just in material things but in peace, joy, wisdom, and a deep relationship with Him. The question is: how do we protect these spiritual provisions from the enemy's attacks? In Genesis 26, we read about Isaac, who inherited his father Abraham's wells of blessing. These wells represented God’s provision, a source of life in the midst of famine. However, the Philistines filled these wells with earth, symbolizing efforts to block access to God’s blessings. Just as Isaac was determined to re-dig the wells and restore the flow of water, we too must protect our spiritual provisions. The enemy often tries to block our access to peace, joy, and the flow of the Holy Spirit through distractions, sin, and spiritual laziness. We must be vigilant and intentional about preserving our spiritual well-being. Isaac's persistence in re-digging the wells of his father speaks to the importance of perseverance. In the face of opposition, Isaac did not give up; instead, he pressed on until he found peace and prosperity. Similarly, we must continue in prayer, even when it feels like we are facing opposition. Our faith must be steadfast, trusting that God will provide spiritual nourishment even in times of hardship. Philippians 4:19 reminds us that God’s provision is not limited by circumstances; He supplies according to His riches in glory. We must also recognize that spiritual provision requires spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil. The enemy seeks to block our access to the wellspring of life, our relationship with God and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Protecting our spiritual provisions involves resisting the temptations, lies, and distractions that seek to divert us from God's will. We need to put on the full armour of God, so we can stand firm in His truth and maintain our access to spiritual resources. You must ensure that your wells are filled with God’s Word. Just as water is vital to physical life, the Word of God is essential to spiritual life. Daily devotion, meditation, and application of Scripture keeps our wells overflowing with spiritual nourishment. The more we fill our hearts and minds with God’s promises, the more we protect the provisions He has made for us. God has provided us with everything we need for life and godliness. However, we must actively guard and protect these spiritual provisions. Through prayer, perseverance, spiritual warfare, and the Word of God, we can ensure that the wells of life remain open, flowing, and abundant. Let us protect our spiritual provisions with all diligence, trusting in God’s faithfulness to supply all our needs according to His glorious riches. Amen.
