ALL WISDOM CAN BE FOUND IN JESUS

Text: Colossians 2:6-7

Memory verse: Colossians 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

All wisdom can be found in Jesus Christ. Paul said that all treasures of wisdom are found in the person of Jesus Christ. In Him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. Jesus was known for His wisdom. Indeed, Matthew writes about the response Jesus received when He came back to His hometown of Nazareth. Jesus went to his hometown and taught the people in the synagogue in a way that amazed them. People were asking, “Where did this man get this wisdom and the power to do these miracles?” They recognized that Jesus had unique wisdom.

There is no true wisdom outside Christ. In this glorious scheme of Christianity all the treasures, the abundance and excellency of wisdom and knowledge are contained. No scheme of salvation, or Divine knowledge, ever equalled in its depth and excellency to the Gospel plan.  A scheme which the wisdom of God alone could devise, and which his power and infinite mercy alone could accomplish.

These wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ, treasured up, to be communicated according to the needs of those who believe. The religion of Christ makes all who possess it truly benevolent and leads them earnestly to desire the holiness and happiness of others. It does not mean that none of those "treasures" had been developed; but that, so to speak, Christ, as Mediator, was the great treasure-house of all the wisdom and knowledge needed by men.  It is common to compare anything valuable with "treasures" like silver or gold. The idea here is, that in reference to the wisdom and knowledge needed by all of us, Christ is that abundant treasures that supplies all our needs.

This wisdom is needed for our salvation and the knowledge which is required to guide us in the way to life. Christ can instruct us in all that it is desirable for us to know, so that it is not necessary for us to apply the philosophy or the teachings of men.

1.  Lord Jesus, thank You for abounding towards me in all wisdom and prudence.

2.  LORD God Almighty, I receive all the treasure of wisdom and knowledge You have hidden in Christ for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
