  • TODAY'S BIBLE TEXT

    Text: 1 Corinthians 2:9–11

     But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.   10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit:  for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.   11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?  even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

    THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEALS GOD TO US

    Text: 1 Corinthians 2:9–11

    Memory verse: Isaiah 64: 4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

    Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. Take a moment to focus on the words preparedrevealedsearches, and knows. These are all actions performed by the Holy Spirit within the hearts of people who love God.

    Everything that Jesus says the Spirit will do in the world, Jesus himself had done.  In other words, the Spirit carries on Jesus’ mission of revealing the Father, in a sense mediating Jesus’ continuing presence, so that by the Spirit, Jesus continues to confront the world as he did personally two thousand years ago. Of course, the Spirit does not reveal Jesus in a vacuum; when Jesus sends the Spirit to convict the world, he sends the Spirit, not directly to the world itself, but to us John 16:7, the Spirit is sent “to you,” that is, to Jesus’ disciples. The Spirit continues to confront the world with the person of Jesus through our proclamation of him.

    It is the Holy Spirit who reveals the things of God to us. Our relationship with God is one of God continually revealing himself as we practice the principle of Soak, Sow, and Flow.  The Holy Spirit does His job by revealing God's word to us through the Bible. The Bible itself is complete and trustworthy, but impossible to understand without the Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16 that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. He is the only one who knows the thoughts of God. And he is the One who reveals them to us. This is why Paul told the Churches in Ephesus, in Ephesians 1:17 NIV “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better”. We experience Son Power as the Holy Spirit reveals to us the things of God. And this helps us to conform our hearts, minds, and lives to God’s will.

    We will be effective in practicing the principles of the kingdom when we experience a continuing and growing relationship with the person of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. God has prepared things for those who love him. In Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his creative work, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we can do them”. We discover what these good works are as we cultivate our relationship with our heavenly Father.

  • TODAY'S HYMNAL

    CGDS HYMN 28: SS&S 190:

    COME, HOLY SPIRIT, COME

    1. Come, Holy Spirit, come;

    Let Thy bright beams arise,

    Dispel the darkness from our minds,

    And open all our eyes.

    2. Revive our drooping faith,

    Our doubts and fears remove,

    And kindle in our breasts the flame

    Of never-dying love.

    3. Convince us of our sin,

    Then lead to Jesus' blood,

    And to our wondering view reveal

    The secret love of God.

    4. ‘Tis Thine to cleanse the heart,

    To sanctify the soul,

    To pour fresh life in every part,

    And new-create the whole.

    5. Dwell therefore in our hearts,

    Our minds from bondage free ;

    Then we shall know, and praise, and love

    The Father, Son, and Thee !
