 1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins:  2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:  3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind;  and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

THE RESURRECTED HUMAN SPIRIT

Text: Ephesians 2:1-6

Memory verse: Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.

Because of what happened in the story of Adam and Eve, every single human being that is born into this world is born into this world in sin. We are all born into this world with a fallen and sinful nature and no amount of good and holy works, no matter how many good works we may do, and no matter how holy and good those works may be, will never be good enough to get us back into the grace of our Lord and Savior. To be born into this world without the Holy Spirit living in us, our human spirits are born “dead” into this world. In other words, we have no God-life anywhere in our beings because of the first sin of Adam and Eve.

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world …”

Once you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, then the Holy Spirit will come into your human spirit. And once the Holy Spirit comes into your human spirit, then your human spirit is fully resurrected once again. You now have God’s divine spiritual life running through our spirit.

As a result of being born into this world with completely dead spirit, you have no lifeline to communicate back to the Lord, and no chance to be able to enter heaven once you die and depart from this life. But once you are willing to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, all these will completely change within seconds and you: Immediately become born again, receive the Holy Spirit into your spirit, your dead spirit becomes resurrected and regenerated back to life, reconnected to God. There becomes an assurance that you will go to heaven at death. In other words, your human spirit will go from maximum death to maximum life in seconds after you are saved. Any unbeliever can transit from total death to total life with the snap of a finger if he is willing to take the big step of admitting that he is a fallen sinner in need of a personal Savior to save himself from his sins and trusting Jesus to do it.

1. Come, Holy Spirit, come;

Let Thy bright beams arise,

Dispel the darkness from our minds,

And open all our eyes.

2. Revive our drooping faith,

Our doubts and fears remove,

Of never-dying love.

3. Convince us of our sin,

Then lead to Jesus' blood,

And to our wondering view reveal

The secret love of God.

4. ‘Tis Thine to cleanse the heart,

To sanctify the soul,

To pour fresh life in every part,

Our minds from bondage free ;

Then we shall know, and praise, and love

1.  Lord Jesus, help me to know You in the power of Your resurrection.

2.  LORD God Almighty, give me the resurrection experience in every area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
