16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:  all things were created by him, and for him:  17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

GOD IS SELF-EXISTENT

Text: Colossians 1:16-17

Memory verse: Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

“Self-existent” means without origin. The word “self-existent” is another one of those terms which much is affirmed but little is established. the three Persons in God, Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are each independently self-existent. They are in each their own independent source of life but one indivisible part.   John 4:24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." God is a Spirit, and the Spirit is God.

That God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are self-existent is to say that they exist without any power or influence from any other being, force, or circumstance. The Lord is the creator of all things. It is much more than that, it is he who defines the meaning, purpose, and value of all things. He is the very source of life and everything in the entire creation depends on him, and He alone controls the destiny of His own creatures. God is sovereign in His creation, setting the limits of life and freedom for His creatures. He has no beginning or end, rather He is the beginning and the end. He is the source of all things, He is dependent on nothing, and his power and authority are the highest of all. He is not dependent upon His creatures for happiness or any other thing. If God is the source of life, He therefore rise above it, and the dimension in which it exists. God is eternally self-dependent. The creation of angels and men added nothing to God, for He existed years (eternally) prior to their creation. He was perfectly blessed in Himself before the first creature was ever called into being.

There is only one true God who exists in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are equal in divine perfection, coeternal, and execute distinct but harmonious offices. God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is Holy, sovereign, and personal. God knows all things, He is everywhere present, and is all-powerful. God is love, gracious and merciful, and in every way good. God is spirit, self-existent, and supreme. Being the Creator of all things, it is in Him that we live, move, and exist.

Hebrews 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abides a priest continually. He always was, is now and always will be. Because of this truth, God stands alone like no other being in the universe, “Who is like unto Thee Oh Lord?” the creator that was not created.

   Prayers:

1.  Holy Spirit, set me free from the law of sin and death.

2.  LORD God Almighty, recreate me to fit in to my purpose in life perfectly, help me by Your Spirit to see the future You have prepared for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
